We caught up with a whole bunch of our Aussie friends in St James Park near Buckingham Palace on Saturday arvo. Big cheers for Andrea and Sun who told us they got engaged a couple of
months ago but kept it on the hush so that they could surprise Sun's mum on her 70th. Great job guys!Since London continued to put on the best week of the year (minimum 24 degrees, no rain), everyone had been out and about to enjoy it. We observed topless sunbathing and a high concentration of speedos on display (nowhere near water, mind you). Londoners had decidedly declared this weekend their "summer".
We followed up with dinner in Chinatown at an awesome restaurant "Haozhan" (meaning good food - good one Stu!). And then came Trash Palace. Drum roll please. To describe Trash Palace one would need to make frequent use of the terms smoke machine, psycho Whitney Houston look-alike, more smoke machine and the best 80s music you will ever find. This place was rocking, it was jamming, it was going off with under 18s and over 40s (thanks for coming Lisa!) like nowhere else. Mel and I decided it was the best London dancing experience ever. Be warned, however, for those of you reading this and thinking that you need to urgently book a ticket to London just to visit Trash Palace, we loved it because it was cheesy and seedy and a little bit off. It's not Establishment or Iguana Bar. Think Stonewall in the Shire.
So all was fun and dandy until psycho Whitney Houston look-alike (see reference above) decided to generously wash the floor with her beer. Slick with ale, our hero dancer extraordinaire Andrew fell to the evil ploy and took a nose dive off the podium. All we'll say is that it was like a
scene out of Tarantino (the hard core years). Blood everywhere followed by a wait in the bar's office (think closet under the stairs) for an ambulance. I can now say that I know the insides of the NHS hospital system. I also know what the insides of Andrew's nose looks like. Andrew, maybe, just maybe, it was worth it and we'll see you back at Trash Palace (with a helmet). We only have "before" photos which we will upload shortly.
Today, we fly to Toronto.

It was great to see you both on Saturday and to meet all the other randoms you've collected in London over the years! Sure were a lot. Good to hear that Andrew's on the mend as well. Enjoy the rest of your travels and look forward to seeing you an 1hr 15mins away.
Looks like the real Whitney Houston was in London around the same time - http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2008-05-12/
